East Stroudsburg Area School District Chromebook Initiative Every student in grades 6-8 will be issued a Chromebook to use during the school day

Critical Thinking Collaboration Creativity

Benefits Speed: turns on in about 8 seconds Web-based: no downloads or installing software Work: work saved on the web (cloud based) Battery: Long battery life (6 hrs)

Everything is saved in the “Cloud” At home you will be able to access all your work on your computer, tablet, or smartphone Internet Cafe: A new club coming soon for those who do not have Internet at home

Cart Management You may ONLY use the Chromebook assigned to you You will have an assigned location for your Chromebook

Procedure: During homeroom you will receive your Chromebook You will bring it to all of your classes each day. After Period 9 you will return to homeroom Chromebooks will be placed in cart for charging Wait for dismissal to lockers

EXCEPTIONS Lunch- No Chromebooks in the cafeteria Physical Education- No Chromebooks in the locker room. (You may use them during health class) School Lockers- No Chromebooks in lockers

Coming Soon!!!.... Soon all students will receive a bag to carry Chromebook While in hallways- wear the strap over your shoulder

Meanwhile….. Carefully carry your Chromebook and school supplies during transitions

End of Day Students will return to HR Chromebooks in Cart Chromebook bags on your desk in homeroom (when we get them)

THIS IS YOUR COMPUTER FOR A LONG TIME!!! You will get the same Chromebook every year ….so take care of it!

Miscellaneous Late to school?? Early dismissal?? Go to homeroom to get or drop off Chromebook….

Proper Etiquette on the Internet (Netiquette) Bullying/Cyberbullying- NOT acceptable Respect classmates work on shared Google Docs (or any work) NO name calling, teasing, rumors Do NOT comment negatively about others on social media (which will not be accessible from your school Chromebook)

So….you are now ready to log on You will use your school address and password to log on to a chromebook. Type and press NEXT. On next slide type your Password (Password -if this is your first time this year - use your birthdate mmddyyyy)

The first time you log on - a screen similar to this will appear- you may choose a picture to represent yourself. To Update the picture, press the picture icon, the Settings Wheel, and click your picture under People. Follow the prompts.

Background: You can customize! Right-click (press ALT and click) anywhere on the desktop screen to open context menu Click CHANGE Wallpaper Background from displayed list Choose a background
