This capstone course is the culminating experience for the Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration. This course builds on the concepts of all courses students have taken within the program of study. The capstone course provides students with the opportunity to integrate and synthesize the knowledge and skills acquired throughout their coursework in an original comprehensive project, and to assess their level of mastery of the stated outcomes of their degree program in healthcare administration. 2

Grades (2 types): 1) Discussion Question responses—25points (each response has to be at least 150 words or sentences) For full credit you have to post to the discussion question and respond at least twice to other posts of your classmates. Capstone Project You are required to submit a Capstone Project. This is to complete your Bachelor's Capstone experience. The Capstone Project will be expected to use evidence-based best practices (PowerPoint in Doc Sharing) and associated professional methodology. This Capstone project requires students to integrate principles, theories, and methods learned in courses required throughout the Bachelor’s program. 9

Capstone Project The purpose of the Capstone Project is for you to show your understanding of the course materials and your ability to communicate at the college level. For your capstone project, you will be performing research on a real-life healthcare organization. Drawing upon your learning in previous courses, you will be asked to analyze various facets and provide a detailed picture of the organization. As you compile the information, consider what value each process adds to the company and how quality improvements might improve outcomes. 10

Capstone Project Compose your report using Standard American English as described in the APA guidelines available at Kaplan University Writing Center. You need to follow formal APA formatting for the project to include title page and reference page. Make sure you cite your reference in the text and on the reference page using proper APA format. Remember, all assignments are submitted to Turnitin to detect copying/plagiarism! 11

Instructions: Select a hospital to explore from the list of Hospitals for Capstone project (Doc Sharing) Go to the selected hospitals web site and research the information needed. These will include the Mission Statement, Strategic Plan, and Annual Report. Demographics will be in the Home Page, Locations, etc. Other valuable information is to be found in Community Outreach areas, Certification and Accreditations, and Corporate Compliance areas. You should use outside materials (news articles, videos, etc) to supplement information from the hospital web site. 13

Capstone Project Requirements You will need to cite minimum of twelve references in the complete report. There should be 3 to 4 references per section. Prepare this project according to APA guidelines. Each section should be 1200 – 1600 words in length. The final report should be 3,500 – 5,000 words in length. 21
