Introduction The Cape Conference 40 Days of Prayer is designed to prepare us spiritually for our upcoming evangelistic meetings in October 2016, leading us to being in tune with God, filled with His Holy Spirit, surrendered to His will and in a position to be used powerfully by God as were the early disciples.

Introduction During our 40 Days of Prayer we will be walking through the first few chapters of the Book of Acts in various ways, seeking to prayerfully apply the lessons gained to our lives as individuals, as churches and as the Conference.

INITIATIVE #1: DAILY DEVOTIONS

Initiative #1: Daily Devotions The Cape Conference will provide a special daily devotion for each of the 40 Days of Prayer.

Initiative #1: Daily Devotions Each daily devotion contains: – A Bible reading – EG White Quotation – Lesson(s) – Reflection question(s) – Prayer Guide

Initiative #1: Daily Devotions These daily devotions will be shared using the following platforms: – – Cape Conference Facebook Page – Whatsapp

Initiative #1: Daily Devotions As the Holy Spirit directs, please feel free to pass on the daily devotion to others as well.

Initiative #1: Daily Devotions May the Lord, through these special devotional messages, draw us closer to Himself, assist us in preparing to receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit into our lives and be empowered to be a powerful witness for Christ in the time we are living in.

INITIATIVE #2: PRAYER BANDS/ CELL GROUPS

Initiative #2: Prayer Bands/Cell Groups Local Church Prayer Bands and Cell Groups are encouraged: To study (before the prayer meeting): – the God-given mission of the Church; – the essential work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and in the Church;

Initiative #2: Prayer Bands/Cell Groups Local Church Prayer Bands and Cell Groups are encouraged: To earnestly engage in united prayer for: – a full consecration to God, and – for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our lives and upon our Church, and – for both the preparation and harvest of souls into God’s kingdom through the initiatives within the Conference and in the world field.

Initiative #2: Prayer Bands/Cell Groups In order to assist the prayer bands/cell groups, the Conference has provided: – (1) weekly readings, – (2) a brief study guide for each week and – (3) a suggested prayer format

Initiative #2: Prayer Bands/Cell Groups Please note that the emphasis during prayer meeting should be on prayer and not on preaching.

Initiative #2: Prayer Bands/Cell Groups The Conference has also provided: – “A Suggested Format For United Prayer” (as used in the Ten Days of Prayer) – Information on how to lead out in united prayer (“United Prayer Pointers”)

INITIATIVE #3: SPECIAL DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING

Initiative #3: Days of Prayer & Fasting Sabbath, 3 September 2016 Sabbath, 8 October 2016

Initiative #3: Days of Prayer & Fasting The Conference has provided the following resources for the special days of prayer and fasting: – Introduction/Notes To Leaders – Bible Readings – EG White Quotations – Lesson(s) – Reflection Questions – Prayer Guide – Suggested Hymns

Initiative #3: Days of Prayer & Fasting It is encouraged that there be at least one united prayer session for the local church/district on these two designated special days of prayer and fasting.

Initiative #3: Days of Prayer & Fasting To assist the prayer leader, the Conference has provided a Prayer Guide (outline) that may be followed in this united prayer session with the local church/district.

Initiative #3: Days of Prayer & Fasting The Prayer Guide will follow the following format with suggested prayer items (the same format as used in the Ten Days of Prayer): – Praise – Confession – Supplication – Thanksgiving
