GCSE QUESTION: ‘It is right to go to War’. Do you agree? Give reasons for your answer, showing that you have thought of more than one point of view. You must refer to religion in your answer. Religious view: P – Make a point E – Explain it E – Explain further with a religious teaching Your view: P – Make your point E – Explain it E – Explain further with another point

ANSWER… I agree/disagree because ……. Reason – I believe this because….and because…. Christians/Buddhist agree/disagree because… which means….and they believe this because……

I disagree with this statement because I believe going to war will lead to loss of life. Taking a human life is immoral and causes suffering to family and friends of those taken. War encourages people to be greedy and strive for land, power, beliefs for all which shouldn’t be forced. Buddhists believe in non-violence, a teaching called Ahimsa (P). This means that due to the teachings of the Buddha, war is wrong and violence is wrong in all situations because they believe in Samsara (E)and that all life is interconnected in a cycle of life, death and rebirth. (E) However, Mahayana Buddhists believe that war may take place if it is the lesser of two evils, such as saving lives. ‘IT IS RIGHT TO GO TO WAR’

WHAT GRADE DID YOU GET? A*A B C
