Centennial Hills Las Vegas Community Event Sharde Lindsey EDU 620 Dr. Carter August 3 rd 2015

Welcome Welcome to the Centennial Hills Las Vegas Community Event, and I want to thank all of you for showing up today. We have a total of 250 people in attendance! I would like to get right to the point, because I know a lot of us do not have much time. Today we are showcasing how technology is being implemented in the Clark County School District, and how much technology use and instruction would improve if we get the bond passed. We have set up for you today three different stations to take a look at and interact with, along with different information packets, and a sign up sheet for more information at the end of the event. And finally, food and beverages will be available at the center station. Please enjoy!

Station I Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Audience I plan to play a short CAST video that showcases the three principles of UDL. This video will be playing on several different wide screen televisions, as well as on an IPad or Tablet for those who prefer to watch on another device. I will have the television’s set up to spell out UDL, playing loud enough so those near can hear, but not overbearing for those at other stations. Link for the video.

Station I Information This station will contain the three essential components of UDL, they are multiple means of representation, multiple means of engagement, and multiple means of expression. Examples of how this information will help the entire educational population in the school district. Students are able to be more creative Student participation, engagement, and enthusiasm is increased with the use of digital formats. (Kurtts, 2006). Students with special needs, or behavioral problems are able to complete their assignments without prompts to get started. Hitchcock, C., Meyer, A., Rose, D., & Jackson, R. (2002).

Station 1 Demonstrate YouTube Video on UDL in action. Sample lesson plans will be available. Information Packets for parents to take home with them. Station II Mission/Vision As an educator in the Clark County School District, it is our mission to prepare all of our students to become productive adults, and establish knowledge of the 21 st century skills. We believe that technology is beyond a tool for learning. It is the vision that Clark County School District students are creative, engaged, motivated, and provided with a stimulating and non-threatening learning environment that challenges not only the curriculum, but the students as well. Our goals are to provide: Access to information. Access to the general curriculum. To provide skills necessary for the workforce.
