C & I AA AND AS-T DEGREE RETREAT JANUARY 30,

AGENDA Introduction and Overview Completing the AA-T or AS-T degree template (Richard Cortes) Completing the AA-T or AS-T degree narrative (Sarah McLemore) Updating course outlines and aligning them with C-ID descriptors (Sarah McLemore) Articulation agreement reports (Richard Cortes) Completing the AA-T or AS-T degree application (Kathy Bakhit) Next Steps: The Degree Approval Process

COMPLETING THE AA-T OR AS-T DEGREE TEMPLATE

TMC templates have been developed by your respective discipline CSU/CCC counterparts. Forms can be found at For your convenience, we’ve attempted to complete most forms. Please modify as needed. The GE section will be completed by the A.O. AA-T/AS-T TEMPLATE

COMPLETING THE AA-T OR AS-T DEGREE NARRATIVE

Review the draft narrative we’ve created for you—it’s yours to use Areas in purple are areas which especially require your input. Please add and revise these sections as is applicable Do not delete any sections from the narrative Respond to all sections unless the section is indicated as Not Applicable.

UPDATING COURSE OUTLINES AND ALIGNING THEM WITH C-ID DESCRIPTORS All course included in your degree template must have updated course outlines (less than six years old) All courses which have a C-ID descriptor must be submitted for a C-ID match. The content of your C-ID aligned courses need to be an 80% match with the descriptor You may have outlines which have been updated less than six years ago. However, please follow our course outline samples and make sure to include the required fields

UPDATING COURSE OUTLINES AND ALIGNING THEM WITH C-ID DESCRIPTORS Technical changes to outlines (adding an assignment, updating a textbook, etc.) are approved at your division and sent to C & I as information Minor changes (adding a content section, changing a course exit standard, adding or revising SLOs etc.) require one reading at C & I More substantive changes (changing a course title, adding a prerequisite, etc.) require approval at Academic Affairs and the Board of Trustees as part of their consent agendas See the handout on the C & I website for more information about curriculum

If your course has not yet been approved for C-ID or descriptors are not available, an articulation agreement must be attached before the chancellor’s office is able approve the degree. The A.O. will prepare these reports for you. Updated course outlines may be needed if there are missing 1 to 1 articulation agreements. ASSIST.ORG ARTICULATION REPORTS

COMPLETING THE AA-T OR AS-T DEGREE APPLICATION Data Fields that are required on the Curriculum Inventory have been copied into the “ Application Data Fields for AA T Degrees” document and is also available on the web site Kathy will work with the division chair to gather the data.

NEXT STEPS: THE DEGREE APPROVAL PROCESS Take the degree packet through the division for approval. The packet should include the complete Template, Narrative, Articulation/ CID documents, and the Application Data Fields filled out.
