Seeking The Lord & The Sabbath Sunday, September 4, 2016Pastor Rod Enos

I.Seeking God is Not a Duty A.It Is A Relationship of Love B.We Need His Guidance

Psalms 32:9 (NIV) Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you.

II.Plowing Up The Unplowed Ground

Hosea 10:12 (NIV) Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers righteousness on you.

II.Plowing Up The Unplowed Ground A.Sow For Yourselves Righteousness B.Reap the Fruit of Unfailing Love

Hosea 11:3-4 (NIV) It was I who taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by the arms; but they did not realize it was I who healed them. 4 I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love; I lifted the yoke from their neck and bent down to feed them.

Hosea 14:4 (NIV) “I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them.

II.Plowing Up The Unplowed Ground A.Sow For Yourselves Righteousness B.Reap the Fruit of Unfailing Love C.Breakup the Unplowed Ground

Mark 4:13-20 (NIV) Then Jesus said to them, “Don't you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable? 14 The farmer sows the word. 15 Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them.

Mark 4:13-20 (NIV) 16 Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. 17 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 18 Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word;

Mark 4:13-20 (NIV) 19 but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. 20 Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—thirty, sixty or even a hundred times what was sown.”

III.Cultivating A Sabbath A.Cultivating A Soft Heart

Psalms 139:23-24 (NIV) Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting

III.Cultivating A Sabbath A.Cultivating A Soft Heart B.Cultivate A Love For His Presence C.Allow God To Show Your Sabbath 1)Stop 2)Rest 3)Delight 4)Contemplate D.Until He Showers Righteousness Upon You

Something To Remember Seeking the Lord and practicing a Sabbath is how we cultivate a relationship with God that produces righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Thank you for coming today! May you leave with a renewed sense of God’s love and presence in your life and renewed surrender to Him!
