Which is an example of the inductive approach and which is an examples of the deductive approach? Inductive or Deductive?

Example A I walk to school every day. I walked to school yesterday. Past simple regular verbs = verb + ‘ed’

Now change the verbs… I ________chocolate. (like) Hala ______ video games last night. (play) My friends ________ TV every day. (watch) My father ________ in a bank last year. (work)

Example B I walk to school every day. I walked to school yesterday. What do you notice about the words in red? Why do they change? Make a sentence about something you do every day and something you did yesterday.

Advantages / Disadvantages? Inductive Student interaction and participation. Students rely on their critical thinking to figure out the language. Students gain deeper understanding of the language Deductive Time in the classroom is spent only on the language principle. Most material can be easily taught this way. It encourages faster learning of material

Which is more efficient in the long run? – Inductive tends to be more efficient in the long run Which is less time consuming? – Deductive is less time consuming.

What language point appears in these extracts (note, lessons 2 & 3 are not included, because the language point is not raised between lessons 1 & 4; why do you think that is?) What is here that is more inductive, and what is there that is more deductive? Which approach is used first? Which is more common in the Learners’ Book, and which in the Activity Book?
