Every attempt to tie the Lanyard Extensions overhead must be made, this will greatly decrease the likelihood of striking the ground or any structural support between the employee and the ground. When tying off overhead is not an option, then all beams must be “cooned” rather than walked (see picture below) At Zachry a Lanyard Extension longer than 6 feet will not be allowed unless the size of the beam requires a larger size Lanyard Extension; this determination will be made on a case-by-case basis.
