THREE DIFFERENT CULTURALLY RELEVANT SCHOOLS Jeanerette Head Start Jeanerette Elementary Jeanerette Senior High

INSPIRATION I will be discussing 3 different school programs. All schools develop and support culturally relevant practices and great learning experiences. They help to develop 21 st Century Skills.

JEANERETTE HEAD START THE GENERAL DEMOGRAPHIC INFORMATION Located in Jeanerette, LA Rural setting located across from the Catholic Church. School population consists of 80% African Americans, 5% Caucasian, 5% Hispanic, and 5%other. All Students eats lunch for free.

WHY IS JEANERETTE HEAD START UNIQUE ? Head Start is a unique program because it gives children and families the opportunity to be successful in learning. The program educates family and collaborates with the classroom as well as parents a whole.

THE SCHOOL 21 ST CENTURY SKILLS The 21 st century Skills used in Head Start are: Creativity Critical Thinking Problem Solving Collaboration & Innovation

CULTURAL RELEVANT PEDAGOGY Cultural relevant Pedagogy focus on family support systems and highlights the strong need for cultural and linguistic competence in the delivery of those systems. (

CREATIVITY & INNOVATION IN HEAD START The Head Start Program promotes a positive environment is set up into different learning areas. Dramatic Play, Discovery, Music, Blocks, and Language Arts. Head Start uses teaching strategies to assess our children. Teachers also observe children and promote them to interact with other to create ideas.

JEANERETTE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL THE GENERAL DEMOGRAPHIC INFORMATION Located in Jeanerette, LA Pre K – 6 Grades Public school Population is 236 students

Why is Jeanerette Elementary unique? Jeanerette Elementary is unique and it offers a free education and ways to explore the school. It also give the children an opportunity to learn and places highly on student achievement.

CREATIVITY & INNOVATION IN JEANERETTE ELEMENTARY It promotes creativity in the classroom. Each student creates their identity and learn individually from their teachers. Teachers encourage student to learn and advance from their teachings. Teachers supervise and instruct the students.

WHY IS JEANERETTE SENIOR HIGH UNIQUE? Jeanerette Senior High provides a unique environment dedicated to achieving academics excellence. It provides a safe and secure setting to stimulate students to learn. It strives to make every student unique and feel valued and inspired.

JEANERETTE SENIOR HIGH CULTURALLY RELEVANT PEDAGOGY Culturally relevant pedagogy integrates technology, techniques and resources. This culture relevant pedagogy focus on leadership that challenges high school students for the next level in their future accomplishments.

JEANERETTE SENIOR HIGH CREATIVITY Students create a sense of pride in all members of the school’s community through leadership skills. The teachers engage with students to create a good learning environments and creativity in the classroom as a productive way of learn in the classroom and outside the classroom.
