UNIT 11 RENAISSANCE AND REFORMATION

Self painting of Michelangelo 4 Had harsh life. Torn between painting for the church or for himself. The Medici family started him with his painting.

Face of Christ 4 One of his first pieces of work. Show the detail of humans part of Renaissance art.

Battle of the Centaurs 4 Finished this painting when he was 16 years old. It shows the conflict that young Micheanglo had concerning his art work. Conflict between church and himself.

Bacchus 4 This is a pagn piece of work. Notice the detail to the human body.

The Pieta 4 This sculpture was done when he was 25 years old. Mary holding Christ after his death.

David 4 Most famous piece of work. Shows heroic courage which comes from inner spirtual strength.

Ceiling of the Sistine Chapel 4 Located in Rome. The painting matches the dimensions of Solomon’s temple from the bible.

Last Judgement The “Dammed” 4 Most famous part of the Sistine Chapel is the Last Judgement. This part of the Last Judgement shows how souls are being pulled down to hell. These are demons.

Mona Lisa 4 Corners of her eyes and mouth are foggy so you can not tell her mood. Horizon on the left is lower than on the right. You look from the left she is taller.
