STRENGTHENING RELATIONSHIPS ● Touring Properties ● Landlord Tenant Council Meetings ● Neighborhood Excellence Committee

NEIGHBORHOOD EXCELLENCE COMMITTEE ● Advisory board that meets to review neighborhood issues (including safety, aesthetic, community standards development, and other concerns) ● Meet 2 nd Wednesday of every month

INCREASING ACCOUNTABILITY ● Good Neighbor Designation ● Good Tenant Program

MUSG GOOD TENANT PROGRAM An educational session through which Marquette students gain valuable information regarding leasing off-campus. Topics will include: Setting up utilities How to write checks General understanding of what it means to sign a lease What a security deposit is used for What joint and several liability means Safety concerns (keeping doors locked, windows closed etc) Importance of keeping property clean Property owners/managers would provide an incentive to students as a means to motivating them to participate.

MUSG GOOD NEIGHBOR DESIGNATION -Contact University Apartments and Off-campus Student Services to request Designation -Sign Disclaimer -Interior/Exterior Property Assessment will occur between June and August -Randomly selected vacant units in all buildings Property Assessments will be conducted by a team: An MUSG off-campus senator A Property Owner/Manager An Avenues West Representative -Code will be checked via DNS website

MUSG GOOD NEIGHBOR DESIGNATION PILOT Numbers: 8 trained inspectors (students/avenues west representatives/property owners and managers 10 property owners/managers initiated the process of application (representing 70 properties) 8 property owners/managers proceeded to inspections (representing 48 properties) 30 properties were awarded the Good Neighbor Designation Promotion: MUSG website Rent College Pads website Over 6000 site utilizations to find housing annually Sophomore parent letter Next Steps Focus group with participating property owners/managers to assess traffic Focus group with students to assess awareness of program
