Sit at tables Take notes on how to construct a Tetrahedron Kite

Sit at tables Materials: Plastic bag Name Card String Pattern/Ruler Straws Tissue Paper

Materials: String Scissors

Cut ” piece of string 40 – 14” piece of string

Materials 120 straws

Thread one 40 inch string through three straws. Tie together leaving 2 inches of string on one side and 12 inches of string on the other. Repeat with other 40 inch pieces of string.

Take one triangle and tie a 14 inch string to one corner (2 inches on one side/ 12 inches on other) Repeat with other corner Repeat with other 19 triangles

Add 2 straws to each triangle (long string) tie 2 loose ends together to form 2 triangles repeat with other triangles

Fold one sheet of tissue paper in ½ (hamburger fold) - crease Fold in ½ again - crease Fold in ½ again - crease

Use template – place dotted line on folded edge – paper clip - and cut out

Unfold tissue paper (should have 4 lifting surfaces) Place straws on top – glue together

Thread 1 straw through long string – tie to opposite corner making a tetrahedron shape repeat with all triangles

Place tetrahedrons facing same direction- tie together

Attach tether string to front end of the tetrahedron kite (the corner with tissue paper face)
