Undergraduate Research in Chemistry Dr. Neil Gray Successfully motivating undergraduate students to complete their degree and to pursue advanced degrees in science and medicine.

Closing the Gaps In Success Dr. Gray’s students develop pride in their work, and gain confidence in their ability to apply the knowledge learned in the classroom to real-world problems. The learning environment fostered by Dr. Gray’s dedication to undergraduate research motivates the student to not only complete his or her degree in chemistry but to also continue on to advanced degree programs in the sciences and medicine.

Dr. Gray successfully uses undergraduate research to motivate students to complete their degree in chemistry. His efforts have led to higher retention rates and successful transitions to graduate programs for those students involved in his undergraduate research program. Closing the Gaps In Research For graduate programs in the sciences to be successful, a steady supply of motivated and well trained undergraduates is required.

100% of all the undergraduate students participating with Dr. Gray in research (19) have completed their degree or are expected to do so in a timely manner. Though it is typical for some students to change their major, all of Dr. Gray’s undergraduate research students have remained chemistry majors. 66% of Dr. Gray’s undergraduate research students have continued on to graduate/professional programs in science or medicine. Proven Success
