Content Standards Addressed Are: –Earth Systems-Processes of Systems The surface of the Earth has changed as a result to dynamic forces originating within the mantle. The physical evidence (earthquakes, volcanoes, mountains, etc.) of these constructive and destructive forces is associated with plate movement. (VI B 7) Students will need Science journals.

Changes on the surface of the Earth are caused by changes that start in which layer of Earth?

If you remembered that these changes start in the mantle of the Earth, you are correct!! Earthquakes Volcanoes

In your journal, tell what may cause this layer of the Earth to be so dynamic. Why would changes start in this layer? What does this tell you about the origins of the Earth? Be sure to explain your answers based on what you know about these changes (volcanoes, earthquakes, mountain- building)

Your answers should include that the Earth has been cooling steadily since its formation. The mantle is still very hot and as the cooling takes place on the surface of the Earth, the mantle remains molten. Pressure builds up and the result is the dynamic changes which cause volcanoes and earthquakes. My Science Journal Earth has been cooling since it was formed. The inside is still very hot. When the outside cools off, the pressure and heat inside cause a lot END
