Let’s Get Ready to Learn Round Three Does Bottle Water Pose a Threat to the Environment? Environmental Issues  An estimated 13% of bottle water is recycled in the U.S.  Approximately 90% of plastic bottle water becomes liter or garbage.  In million tons of bottle water were put in landfills.  Plastic bottle water are produce by petroleum oil.  The manufacturing and transporting of bottle water causes pollution in the air and the in water supply.  2 billion half-liter bottle water was shipped to US ports in 2006, causing thousands of tons of global warming pollution and air pollution. Does Plastic Bottle Water Pose a Threat to our Health ? Health Risk  The Cap or liner of plastic bottle could cause health problems.  High level of chemicals are contained in some of the water from bottle water.  Contaminants consume by the sensitive population could pose a health threat. What can I do to help with the improvement (s) on the safety of bottle water?

 Letters to Congress, FDA, or Governor.  Purchase re-usable bottle water.  Recycle plastic bottle water.  Ask parents to buy a filter for home tap water.  Most importantly, Know Your Water Status! Bottle or Tap
