A STUDY ON ADOLESCENTS TRAINING FOR GIRLS FOR REPRODUCTIVE AND SEXUAL HEALTH SEVA MANDIR(UDAIPUR) FACULTY GUIDE By-BHUPEN K. SHARMA Prof.R.C.Mathur FMS-IRM, Jaipur Roll No.1963

 To assess the impact of training on knowledge level of Adolescent Girls on Reproductive and Sexual health issues.

ORIGIN: Founded in 1966 WORK AREA: Udaipur and Rajsamand districtsdistricts FOUNDER: Mr. MOHAN SINGH MEHTA VISION Seva Mandir is an effort to build a new social order through service, dedication and non- violent revolution.

INTERVENTIONS Village institutions Natural resource development Women’s empowerment Early childhood care and education Education Health District poverty initiatives programme Child representative programme People’s management school

There are several health programs which are run by SEVA MANDIR namely:  TBA PROGRAM  ARSH  IMMUNIZATION  BAL SAKHI PROGRAM

 Adolescence is a transitional stage of physical and mental development that occurs between childhood and adulthood.(Age group between 10 to 19 year).  Adolescent represent 1/3 rd of the country population

 The health situation of this age group is central for determining India's health, mortality and population growth  Since the topic is sensitive, there was a need for the awareness among girls, which from the organization’s perspective, it was transformed into a training package.

 RESEARCH AREA-Udaipur district.  RESEARCH DESIGN-Descriptive  SAMPLE DESIGN- Random sampling.  SAMPLE SIZE- 134  DATA COLLECTION METHOD- Questionnaire and Observation..  TOOLS OF ANALYSIS- Percentage, Pie charts.

A. Introduction B. Objective of the training and their expectations C. A basic knowledge on Puberty, Pregnancy, Contraception, Abortion, STD’s, HIV/AIDS, Gender. Training was conducted in KAYA. Block covered were Jhadol, Kherwada, Kotra, Girwa, Badgaon

 Sensitive respondents  Language barriers  Time barriers

Primary DATA SurveyObservation SECONDARY DATA Employees Organizational Reports

 The findings of the study maybe used by Seva Mandir to know the actual Impact and effectives of training.  The inferences maybe used to improve training module.  Also this study was done because it was the demand of the Donors of SEVA MANDIR. To see the impact of SEVA MANDIR’S efforts. So this study will help to the organization to satisfying the demand of their donors.

1. Puberty : Puberty is the stage of the lifespan in which a child develops secondary sex characteristics.

2. Contraception :

3. Pregnancy :. Before After

BeforeAfter 4. Abortion :

5. STD’s : Before the training only 32 girls were able to answer the STD’s related diseases and after the training this no. grows to 45 showing an increases of 40% in the no. of girls about the knowledge of STD’s related diseases.

6. HIV/AIDS : AIDS is a disease of the human immune system caused by the human immunodeficiency virus. Before After

7. Gender : Gender refers to the socially constructed roles, behaviors, activities, and attributes that a given society considers appropriate for men and women. Before After

 The knowledge of adolescents about sexual and reproductive health enhanced after training.  It is requires to give more emphasis on the topic of STD’s because least number of adolescents were able to answered about this issue

 Before training they were not able to recognize the symptoms and the reasons of sexual diseases but after training they were able to answer the reason and symptoms of diseases.

 This training has been proven pretty much successful for adolescents they knew about the reasons, problems and their cure regarding sexual and reproductive health

1. Time management 2. Behavior and Attitude of trainer 3. Support from the village

 The sessions were of as long as 3 hrs, if it could have been divided into more of practical sessions involving role play, group work, discussions, games etc. then the training would have been more useful.  There was a lack of written feedback system where the feedback is taken verbally. So, a written feedback system would help to enhance the training module.  The Size of batch was of about for the training. Managing such a large batch becomes difficult when it comes to learning. A smaller batch would have been much more effective.  The training kits were attractive and easily understood by them, but it was so small or less in quantity for the large size batch. So, a bigger training kits or larger size would have helped them understand better.
