This year we will be studying United States History starting with the American Revolution and how it led to the formation of the U.S. Government, the Constitution, and U.S. History from WWII to the present.
Students will work throughout the year to demonstrate their knowledge and skill through individual and collaborative work, project-based learning, simulations, writing assignments, and assessments. Assessments: 90% (tests, quizzes, projects, and writing assignments) Practice: 10% (classwork ) Studying: Review vocabulary and returned assignments/notes Make flashcards, use the interactive reviews on Classzone, create a timeline to understand cause and effect, etc. You are not limited to just these strategies. Do what works for you and try other things as well. Parents feel free to review assignments with your student. Test retakes: Students will only be allowed a retake if they fail an assessment. Students will be assigned HW Club, in which they will complete any missing assignments they may have, and turn in a completed study guide. After all assessments are in, students will need to redo the entire test and score up to a 70%. Late Work: Students will receive partial credit until the next unit test
HW Club is held daily in C-14 (Mr. Vasquez) You need to be assigned, or you may ask for a HW Club pass to attend Students use their pass to go to the FOL during lunch Students are required to be in my room no more than 10 minutes after lunch has started for attendance Attendance is ed out to all teachers If you receive a HW club pass, and you do not attend, you will be assigned two days of LD.
One 1-2 inch binder for US History II, but can be shared with other subjects – with plenty of lined paper( Students are expected to take their US History II binder home nightly to study for the upcoming assessment or to complete an in class assignment. There is always an exam ahead, so study if you have the time ).
