View of Politics Politics is the art of preventing people from taking part in affairs which properly concern them. Paul Valery The more you read and observe about this Politics thing, you got to admit that each party is worse than the other. The one that's out always looks the best. Will Rogers. cont A politician is a person skilled in the art of compromise. Usually an elected official who has compromised to get nominated, compromised to get elected, and compromised repeatedly to stay in office. Dick Gregory. We would all like to vote for the best man but he is never a candidate. Frank M. Hubbard You can lead a man to Congress, but you can't make him think. Milton Berle. Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance (similar ) to the first. Cont,, Discipline a field of study, often represented by an academic department. Aristotle, the founder of the discipline, called politics “the master science” he means that everything happens in political context. Biologically Aristotle said “man is by natural a political animal” Aristotle used words were zoom politikon, which means, we are political animal or social animal. The Greeks lived in city-state in which the polis was the same as society. Discipline a field of study, often represented by an academic department. Aristotle In Politics, Aristotle declared that ―man is by nature a political animal, ‖ by which he meant that it is only within a political community that human beings can live ‗the good life‘. From this viewpoint, then, politics is an ethical activity concerned with creating a ―just society. ‖ It is what Aristotle called the ―master science. ‖

Cont,, politics concerns the production, distribution and use of resources in the course of social existence. Politics is power: the ability to achieve a desired outcome, through whatever means. From this perspective, politics is about diversity and conflict, but the essential ingredient is the existence of scarcity: the simple fact that, while human needs and desires are infinite, the resources available to satisfy them are always limited. Politics can therefore be seen as a struggle over scarce resources, and power can be seen as the means through which this struggle is conducted. politics concerns the production, distribution and use of resources in the course of social existence. The basics of political science Legitimacy, sovereignty authority are basic to political science. Legitimacy - mass feeling that the government’s rule is rightful and should be obeyed. Sovereignty – a national government being boss on it’s own law in that country. Authority – political leaders’ ability to command respect and exercise power. It is also psychological ability of leaders to get others obeyed. Legitimacy, sovereignty authority are basic to political science.
