INFORMATION ABOUT: EUROPEAN FIRE CLASSIFICATION.

THE EUROPEAN CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM SMALL NOTES: Claddings fire protection ability on 10 min. + Reaction on fire s2, d2 (small amount of smoke and no requirement for burning drops or particles) = Class 2- Cladding. Here are ”drops” (and particles) not relevant because we are now at floor level. So is not required with combined s and d! Construction products’ and building components’ fire resistance The fire resistance of construction products and building components is described according to the following capacity criteria: R for load carrying capacity E for integrity I for insulation. REI: load carrying capacity, integrity and insulation are fulfilled Feks. gulv ved brændovne)

REI 60 A2 s1 d0 Functional requirements R Loadbearing E Integrity I Insulation THE EUROPEAN CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM Main building parts (exclusive flooring and roofing) Additional Classes - Smoke Additional Classes - drops and particles Classification time The time within the performance standards are met. The registered time span during which a building component maintains The defined capacity criteria is indicated in minutes, for example 30, 60, 90 and 120. (Only fire safe) VIA / TCU 5th semester workshop A2016

REI 60 A2 s1 d0 THE EUROPEAN CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM Primary building parts A1 Building materials which do not contribute to fire. This class can not be combined with additional classes. A2 Building materials having an extremely limited fire contribution. The class is always combined with an additional class for smoke (s) and burning droplets (d) B Building materials having a very moderate fire contribution. The class is always combined with an additional class for smoke (s) and burning droplets (d) C Building materials which, to a limited extend, contribute to fire. The class is always combined with an additional class for smoke (s) and burning droplets (d) D Building materials which contribution to fire may be accepted. The class is always combined with an additional class for smoke (s) and burning droplets (d) E Building materials with a relatively high contribution to fire. The class may exist on its own or may be combined with additional class for burning droplets d2 F Means that the product is not documented and does not live up to any classification demands. Consequently it is not possible to combine it with any additional class. Incombustible Class A material Class B material (wood) Pt. no comparison. Everything is worse than wood, but documented by testing …. VIA / TCU 5th semester workshop A2016

REI 60 A2 s1 d0 THE EUROPEAN CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM Additional classes Additional Classes - burning droplets. d0 no burning droplets or particles d1 limited amount of burning droplets or particles d2 no demand to the amount of burning droplets or particles Additional classes for smoke. s1 very limited amount of smoke developed s2, limited amount of smoke developed s3 no demands to the amount of smoke developed VIA / TCU 5th semester workshop A2016

THE EUROPEAN CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM EI: Only where the two criteria, integrity and insulation, are fulfilled E: Criteria integrity is fulfilled. E is used for doors which only differ insulating properties - radiant heat!) Very often door between corridor and staircase. Door-pump VIA / TCU 5th semester workshop A2016

THE EUROPEAN CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM Analysis Site emergency ladder material Establishment of safety stair where the height to the floor is more than 22 meters above the ground. Executables ladders can be used which exceeds the height to floor is maximum 22 meters above the ground Portable ladders may be used where the height to the floor until 9.6 m above terrain.
