Administrative System for a Speech Pathology Office By Devin Peterman

Therapist Office Current Business Operations Name of Company is Speech Language Fundamentals (SLF). Home visitation service. SLF outsources for their Therapists. SLF finds and bills patients and therapists are contracted to go on visits. Not Actual employees of the office. Mutually beneficial relationship.

Current Administrative System Information about each visit is recorded in paper form. The form is then submitted in monthly to the SLF office. Office Administrator then manually types in progress reports into an electronic form.

Time Sheets Visit data is then taken from monthly progress reports to make time sheets. Hours from each visit are added up to pay the contractors and bill the patients.

Patients Records Patient records are also manually typed into excel files. Information such as: treatment start date, end date, address, date of birth, etc.

Problem with Current System Extremely Inefficient Wasteful of resources(Paper) Time Drain Unable for administrator to perform regular therapist activities Back log of unrecorded information due to inefficiency

Solution An online, secure, web portal to allow contracted therapists to record their visit data into a database. Will streamline company, cut down on wastes of time and resources

Step 1: Discovery Process First step was to interview administrator and learn more details about the company such as: How many contracted therapists are currently working? How many patients are currently being treated? What data needs to be stored? How the company currently works.

Step 2: Constructing a Database Schema Once data was collected, the next step was to come up with a schema that would hold all the necessary information. Database was designed and implemented using SQL Server 2012.

Step 3: Planning and Constructing the Website The website needed to provide three vital functions: Allow Contracted Therapists to Log in and record their visit data Allow the site administrator to add users, and patients and modify the data as necessary Have automatic timesheets constructed based on the visitation data.
