Observations Aim: How do CSI’s gather Evidence that is Relevant to a Crime? HW: Current Event Due Friday

How observant are you? HFC Forensic Science

Which is the correct penny? NOTE: You cannot look at a real penny!

Forensic Science & Observation Observation is a very important part of forensic science Forensic scientists have to be very observant and careful to obtain all relevant information needed from the crime scene and not disturb valuable evidence

Crime scene investigators use all five senses to collect accurate information They record information as notes or sketches so they can refer to them later in court When they record information they try to use both qualitative and quantitative information

Qualitative Information Qualitative information includes details such as hair color, eye color, color of clothing, and type of weapon

Quantitative Information Quantitative information includes numerical details such as number of criminals, as well as approximate height and weight of criminals

Observations (Day 2) Aim: How do CSI’s gather Evidence that is Relevant to a Crime? Do Now: Read the Article on Charles Ray Hatcher be prepared to discuss HW: Current Events Due Friday

Find the 6 differences between the two pictures. Source:
