The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is a sovereign state located off the north-western coast of continental Europe. The United Kingdom is a constitutional monarchy and unitary state. The UK is a developed country, with the world's sixth largest economy - -It consists of four countries: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. -The capital city is London. - The UK is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the English Channel, and the Irish Sea.

LEARN THE HISTORY…. On 1 May 1707, the united Kingdom of Great Britain was created by the political union of the Kingdom of England and the Kingdom of Scotland In 1927, the formal title of the UK was changed to its current form, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The United Kingdom was one of the three main Allies of World War II. The United Kingdom was one of the 12 founding members of the European Union at its launch in 1992 with the signing of the Maastricht Treaty.

GEOGRAPHY OF THE UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND The total area of the United Kingdom is 243,610 square kilometres. It lies between the North Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea The coastline of Great Britain is 17,820 kilometres The United Kingdom has a temperate climate, with plentiful rainfall all year round.
