Thus those who were studying the subject found indisputable proof of the existence of a sanctuary in heaven. {Great Controversy 415}

The sanctuary was: 1. The key which unlocked the mystery of the disappointment of It opened to view a complete system of truth 3. Revealing present duty 4. The position and work of his people. {Great controversy 423}

What system of truth? 1. The Sabbath 2. Health Reform 3. Non-immortality of the soul 4. The judgment 5. The glorious coming of Christ.

What present duty? Those who are living upon the earth when the intercession of Christ shall cease in the sanctuary above are to stand in the sight of a holy God without a mediator. Their robes must be spotless, their characters must be purified from sin by the blood of sprinkling...

Through the grace of God and their own diligent effort THEY MUST BE CONQUERORS IN THE BATTLE WITH EVIL. While the investigative judgment is going forward in heaven, while the sins of penitent believers are being removed from the sanctuary, there is to be a special work of purification, of putting away of sin, among God's people upon earth. {Great Controversy 425}

What is the position and work of God’s people?

Leviticus 16:29-31 and 23:27-29,32

Satan well knows that all whom he can lead to neglect prayer and the searching of the Scriptures, will be overcome by his attacks. Therefore he invents every possible device to engross the mind. {Great Controversy 519}

But what object does he seek to gain?

To hold the people in darkness and impenitence till the Saviour's mediation is ended, and there is no longer a sacrifice for sin, is the object which he seeks to accomplish. {GC 518.1}
