The Tower of London Presented by Ambrine.

I will deal with... The History The Tower prisoners Elizabeth the First Anne Boleyn Sir Walter Raleigh Edouard V and Richard, Duke of York The Crown Jewels The Imperial State Crown Saint Edward's Crown The Location

The history The Tower of London was built in 1066 by a french man, William the Conqueror, who became the English King the same year. The Tower has served variously as an armoury, a treasury, a menagerie, the home of the Royal Mint, a public records office, and the home of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom

Tower prisoners Many people have been locked in the tower for religious beliefs or suspected treason. Famous prisoners have included Anne Boleyn Sir Walter Raleigh and Elizabeth the First (when a princesse). Spies were imprisoned here during both World Wars. Some prisoners could walk in the grounds, live in comfortable rooms and receive visitors. Others were locked in tiny freezing cells, and tortured for confessions.

Edouard V and Richard, Duke of York History: In 15th century, the young Edouard V gets to the throne after the death of his father, Edouard IV. But, it is declared illegitimate because his father had married her mother, Elisabeth Woodville, while he was still married with another woman, Eleonore Talbot, whom he considered dead. He is discharged of the throne on June 25th, 1483 and, imprisoned with his small brother, Richard Duke of York, into the Tower of London. We did not see again them any more from that day. We think that they were assassinated on order of their uncle, the new king, Richard III. A legend says that their ghosts still haunt the Tower, to be finally able to take revenge on their murderers and finally rest in peace.
