Forest Elementary School Williamsville School District Miss Tobin’s Kindergarten

Focus Question: Does my learning experience follow the congruency table?

Background Information There are 20 students in the classroom. There are 11 male students and 9 female students. There are no students with an IEP in the class. However, one particular student needs extra attention to help stay on task.

Enduring Understanding Friends can make us happy Even if friends like different things, you can still play together and be friends

Essential Questions Why is important to be a good friend to everyone? How can we be good friends?

NYS Learning Standard: ELA Standard 3: Students will read, write, listen, and speak for critical analysis and evaluation. Key Idea: Writing Level: Elementary Grade Level: Kindergarten

Performance Indicator: Students will draw and/or write to express opinions and judgments to share what they know and have learned about a theme or topic.

Objectives 1.0 The learners will be able to discuss orally how their friends make them feel. 2.0 The learners will be able to discuss orally ways to introduce your self. 3.0 The learners will be able to write one similarity and difference between their self and a friend.

Student’s Tasks Listen to The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister Discuss similarities and differences, first about the fish then about each other Talk about likes and dislikes among the class Complete similarity/difference worksheet independently
