22 Our Hispanic Chamber Background: The Hispanic Chamber Cincinnati USA (HCCUSA) is fortunate to be the largest Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in the States of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. We serve approx. 64,000 Hispanics in our Cincinnati-metro area. While we are only 3.2% of the population, we have more than 1,800 registered businesses (93% of them Micro-enterprises). We are fortunate to have a large group of professional Hispanics, 8.8% of our adult population have 4 years or more of college education. This is more than twice the number in the nation (4.1%). Our chamber is by far the most active of all chambers in the Cincinnati- metro areas.

Two networking meetings every month. Four special interest Quarterly meetings. How to start your own business. Hispanic Affinity Forum. Latin America Business Roundtable. Young Professional’s Networking Events. Annual Events Cincy-Cinco Latino Festival.(May) Fiesta Salsera (Hispanic Heritage Month event).(Sept) Hispanic Volunteer day.(Oct) Annual Gala Dinner (Avg. attendance 850 people).(Oct/Nov) Annual Posada (Christmas celebration).(Dec)

44 Program Overview Program History: Hispanic Affinity Forum (HAF) The Hispanic Affinity Forum (HAF) meetings began in 2012, and has conducted quarterly meetings as well as special presentations when initiating new Hispanic Employee Resource Groups in ERG’s organizations in the Cincinnati metro area. It’s main objective was to facilitate the learning of “best practices” intended to increase the effectiveness and sustainability of the Employee Resource Groups in our region.

55 Program Overview (continued) Clear Objectives: Improve Cultural Competency & sustainability of ERG’s in the region. Help companies of all sizes understand how ERG’s are an important pat of hiring an inclusive strong Corporate Culture. Help Corporate Leaders understand minority cultures and how ERG’s are key in attracting, keep and develop talent. Share what best practices have worked and not worked for Fortune 500 companies as well as for large and mid-size organizations. Use both standard mentoring and “Mentoring Up”.

66 Program Overview (continued) Characteristics of H: Representatives of more than 25 organizations are part of our quarterly meetings. 90% of the attendees are Hispanics. The group openly share their annual plans and initiatives that their intend Hispanic Employee Resource Groups have developed. The group have developed as a team a comprehensive list of “best practices” and specific recommendations. The most important information is a list of recommendations that describes what to do, and importantly what not to do.

77 Program Overview (continued) Characteristics: In the process of finishing a robust HAF website that will describe in a simple and comprehensive way how to jump- start ERG’s in companies w/o previous focus on increasing diversity within their workforce. Companies primarily in the Midwest of the country will be able to access all information to plan the initial ERG activities in their organizations. ERG/ERG-Midwest.com has already ½ of the material required to have the website completely finished. Pending Information (new development in the diversity subject): Include unconscious biases impact on ERG’s Include list macro and micro aggressions.

Summary grid of practices from ERG’s from Large, Middle and Small organizations. Unconscious biases impact on ERG’s Macro and micro aggressions. Summary of startup suggestions.

99 Program Overview (Continued) Web-Site Characteristics: Questions & Answers Are ERG’s the same thing as Diversity Councils? What is the right number of people per group? What is an appropriate budget? What is the optimum number of meetings per year? How do we operate if we work in different locations? Can you be in a group if you are not Hispanic or minority?
