NAEYC & Fred Rogers Center When used intentionally and appropriately, technology and interactive media are effective tools to support learning and development. Intentional use requires early childhood teachers and administrators to have information and resources regarding the nature of these tools and the implications of their use with children. Limitations on the use of technology and media are important. Special considerations must be given to the use of technology with infants and toddlers. Attention to digital citizenship and equitable access is essential.

Choosing an App Are you able to learn how to use the app in a couple minutes? Is the app engaging? Is it free or cost effective? Does it allow for differentiation? Does it align with the Texas Pre-K Guidelines or TEKS?

Differentiation We cannot teach everyone the same content in exactly the same way due to student differences— ‘one size fits all’ is an outdated model of instruction (Fountas & Pinnell, 2012; Knowles, 2009; Watts-Taffe et al., 2012) Technology also needs to be modified to meet the needs of each student.
