Information Edlio This will be one of the main ways that I will be communicating with you. C_ID=496911&type=u&pREC_ID= Remind 101 Snacks Please make sure snack is a quick treat. It is something they can eat with their fingers and open by themselves (no fruit cups or yogurt). Please send water only with a sport top and something they can open easily.

Consequences & Rewards Behavior Calendar Everyday your child will start off with an E (Excellent) If a student chooses to break a rule they will receive a mark in their blue folder: E= 0-2 marks S= 3-6 marks N= 7+ marks Students will receive a grade at the end of each 9 week grading period. Daily folders will be sent home every day marked with any concerning behavior for the day. It will be left blank if they had a super day! Please initial their folder each day. No news is good news! Fuzzy Pompoms, Cougar Bucks, Punch Cards, and Outstanding Slips. Having their daily folder every day is important.

Homework Homework: the homework calendar is located on my webpage under the homework tab. Homework is a way for you to review and extend your child’s learning at home. The topics on the calendar are the same topics that we will be covering in class. It does not need to be turned in. Guided Reading Book: this will be located in their daily folder. We will be sending home books a few times each week as a way for your child to practice their reading skills and fluency. These books are books that we have already read together. The book must be returned everyday. If your child loses a book, it will cost $5.00 to replace it. Wednesday Folder: it is sent home every Wednesday and returned on Thursday. In this folder there will be: –Weekly progress report –Any papers to be signed –Work completed in class

Reading Expectations - students are expected to be reading on a Level C by the end of the year. Reading Strategies – the student will be learning multiple strategies to help them figure out words that they don’t know. Sight words – these are words that are used often in our stories and it is important to know them. Please practice these. I call them snap words because the kids should be able to read and write them in a snap. Comprehension – the students must be able to understand, retell, and answer questions about the story without any prompting.

Daily 5 It is a daily literacy structure that teaches independence and helps create a love of reading and writing. I will be pulling small reading groups during this time. There are 5 tasks: –Read to Self -we do this as a class everyday and then on Chrome books –Read to Someone –Listen to Reading –Word Work –Work on Writing

Writing Writers Workshop – It begins with a mini-lesson and modeling. The students will then be writing independently for 30 minutes, while I conference with students. Phonetic writing example: A ball is big and red. Phonetically written: A bl is bg ad red. Word wall words The student is expected to write these words correctly. These are typically sight words and students names.

Math Hands on! Interactive! Problem Solving Journals –Student will be expected to explain and justify their answers.

Scholastic Book Orders There is link on my webpage to order books at anytime. If you order them under our class we receive class points. These points I use to buy new books for our classroom library.

(Parent Readers and Take Home Activities) There are often times that I need things made or cut out for our classroom or items sent in for an activity. If you are interested in helping here and there, please sign up on my website! I will contact you when needed and send the materials and directions home with your child. Interested in Volunteering

Parent Conference Sign Up is on my webpage. Please sign up for a day and time. Room Mom sign up is by my door.

Thanks! We are looking forward to a great year.
