IMS Global Meeting Update (Rose) What is IMS? Instructional Management Systems Vendor neutral standards body for k-20 information technology infrastructure for learning Focus of meeting: Basic Learning Tool interoperability Allow an LMS system to “Consume” external Tools Both Moodle and Sakai are “Consumers” LTI 1.1 – will allow to pass back a grade LTI will be built as a REST webservice Concept – will be to make LMS’s be producers as well
Educause ACTI Update Mission : The Mobile Web Frameworks Working Group collaborates around developing a methodology for evaluating mobile frameworks and identifying commonalities towards providing mobile-consumable web services (e.g., SIS, LMS, collaboration tools, etc.) to meet the device-agnostic requirements of higher education. The Working Group also aims to share strategies on how to mobile-enable a campus environment, and find ways to leverage mobile environments to support faculty, students, and researchers. The Working Group will also explore ways to share effective community- developed mobile tools for learning and research.
