Art of the Day Presentation Fort Myers Sanibel Lightbulb Advertisement Calvin Leu 12/13/14 Ms. Tanaka Period 3 Honors English 1-2

Fort Myers was founded and built during the American Indian War and has become a very popular tourist attraction site. Sanibel Island and Fort Myers are partners that make ads together to attract visitors since both are rather close to each other and are well known for their beautiful beaches and forests. Both of these location were populated by Indians thousands of years ago and have a very rich history.

Character: The people depicted in the lightbulb advertisement was two middle aged tourist on vacation at Fort Myers and the Sanibel Islands. The woman points ahead as if to show the man something special about the scenery which means that she is very attentive compared to the her companion. The are both wearing bright colored colors such as yellow and white which are shades that are in lightbulbs; normal light and LED light. They both are isolated from any type of people and animals in which they are in the very depths of the forest exploring the beauty of nature. The man and the woman are moving forward on a trail where the ad cuts off the beautiful surprise that they have discovered ahead on the path. Color: All the colors shown in this advertisement were bright colored as are most of nature. The colors of green and yellow usually represent health and happiness which is showing that through nature one gets health and happiness as an outcome. The tree is a perfect brown while the bushes and leaves around it are a very healthy green color. This also translates over to the lightbulb and how each and everyone of us are renewable. The bright colors of the nature means that the plants are healthy which keeps the cycle of life continuing forward without dying anytime soon. The lightbulb also continues the cycle of light which keeps out house bright everyday. The sharp colors of this picture are of the woman’s shirt and of the thick healthy bushes nearby. By going in nature, nature renews our strength and brightens our day like the sun and trees that keep the bugs happy. Light: The brightest parts of a lightbulb are the connection area since it is where all the special circuits and materials are that power this source. Near the top of the bulb gets just a little bit darker due to the farther distance since the light is getting to the top is old. The top of the tree is the brightest since the Sun shines downward on the tree and the bottom of the tree is darker just like how the source of light comes from the circuits. The light outside of the forest is coming from another source as you can see the glare reflecting off the top side of the bulb. In the forest, the light is covered up by the trunk which shows that after one has experienced the beauty only a small portion of troubles will be there. Angle: The lightbulb is very straight as depicted which represents a very straightforward meaning of renewable energy through nature. The lightbulb is the renewable energy that lights up the room just like how nature lights up someone’s day which nicely shown in this picture. The angle of the forest and the tourists are going inwards as of the tourists are slowly venturing deeper and deeper inside the forest. The deeper they go, the more energy they will receive from the beauty of the flowers and nature in its bare self. Proportion: The tourists are the smallest items in the photo while the tree and its trunk are rather huge compared to everything else within the lightbulb. They may be going through a very tough time but as they go on a vacation deep in the forests to explore, nature will give them energy to continue down the path to new happiness. The tree is huge and has many branches sticking out that shows that there are many opportunities to get back to your normal life after a good rest and you must believe in yourself. Placement: The plant is placed on the left side and is also the biggest item which also represents the nature that will bring happiness to the tourists’ lives. The tourists’ are on the right side of the picture which means that nature accomplished their job by bringing the tourists’ to the “right” side of their life. The lightbulb is the biggest portion of the picture since it is used to tell us that through nature, one will get back on the right track and their happiness will be recharged. The woman points forward to the man where their adventures continue. The surprises ahead of them are cut off and same with the surrounding areas. Setting: The image takes place near Fort Myers and Sanibel which attracts tourists due to its rich history and beautiful views. The site is filled with forests and parks where tourists can explore freely and soak in the magnificence of the plants. The picture is taken in the 21 st century which is noticeable with the way the tourists are dressed and the camera quality. Many tourists go there for the amazing experience and to take photographs of the view.
