DOTH NOT WISDOM CRY? “When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?” Prov. 6:9 Prov. 6:9 ADDRESS: 3

Otherwise we are Defenseless! Get a hold on your spirit. “He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.” Proverbs 25:28 THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE

Naturally, we dislike being wrong and being told so. Our spirit is the domain of Pride. “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.” Proverbs 21:2 THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE

Job mastered his spirit through his reasoning. “I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?” Job 31:1 THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE

“My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.” Proverbs 1:10 Learn to Recognize Sin. Understand when Enticement is occurring. Say NO. Say No, NOW!

Bad company ruins good morals. (1Cor.15:33) For the person who thinks he standeth in a matter. (1Cor.10:12) “My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:” Proverbs 1:15 THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE

Your biggest assett is … Never allow a first experience! Trying to Resist?

Don’t set yourself up for temptation. “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” Romans 13:14 THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE

KNOWLEDGE The light is RED UNDERSTANDING You should STOP WISDOM STOP NOW! WISDOM THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE

“Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.” Proverbs 1:23 Learn to recognize reproof. It can come from many different sources. THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE

Acknowledge your error. Return to life and peace. “But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.” Proverbs 1:33 THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE

Don’t set yourself up to fail. Flee youthful lusts. “Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.” Proverbs 4:14-15 THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE

FLEE!

Rule your spirit. You will not die for the want of a few hours of sleep. Move on matters that are urgent. “Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids. Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.” THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE Prov.6:4,5

DON’T PROCRASTINATE!

Set your alarm. Learn to ‘power sleep’. Explore your limits during emergencies. “How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:” Prov 6:9-10 THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE

Get Busy … Quick!

Consider the Beaver, and be wise!

THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us- ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9

Plan your defences. Build them. Test them. “He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.” Proverbs 4:4 THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE

Memory is Important Presence of Mind is Essential “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:20,21,23 THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE

Make rules for yourself. “I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.” Psalms 101:3 THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE

“No Wicked thing before my eyes …”

“I did it my way” In a multitude of counselors there is safety. (Prov.11:14) “He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.” Proverbs 10:17 THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE

Remember SARDIS – They would not Watch!

Learn from the mistakes of others. Don’t trust in your own devices. “But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;” Prov 1:25-26 THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE

Overcome shyness. Make it a way of life. Our actions here are a measure of our desire to please our Creator. “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” Matthew 7:7,8 THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE

Don’t fantasize. Be wary of the effects of electronic games. “Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this is also vanity and vexation of spirit.” Ecclesiastes 6:9 THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE

DOTH NOT WISDOM CRY? ADDRESS: 4 “Let not thy heart decline to her ways” Prov. 7:25 Prov. 7:25
