Resetting the Baseline This year, SAS has reset the standard to the student performance means. This typically happens every 3-4 years to better reflect current state performance averages estimated means are calculated based on the 2010 test distribution. Implications of Technical Advances: –Prior year data in EVAAS® Reports are not being reported this year; and, –3 year average data in EVAAS Reports will not be reported until there is sufficient data. 16

2010 Absence of Prior Year Data – Example of the District Value-Added Report 17

2010 Absence of Prior Year Data– Example of District Diagnostic Value-Added Report 18

Reporting & Use Enhancements 5 Level Scale vs. 3 Level Scale Based on 1 and 2 standard errors Having five gradients, provides better visual information about the magnitude of growth made in your district or school. This does not affect the categories used for accountability purposes. 19

Reporting & Use Enhancements (cont’d) Both 1 and 2 Year Projections are available in EVAAS For classroom teachers, the one year projection is most useful. Two year projections are used for AYP purposes in the Ohio Growth Model. E.g. A 5 th grade student will have projection reports for both 6 th and 7 th grade math. 20

Reporting & Use Enhancements (cont’d) Growth Measure Pie Charts with drill down features to AYP subgroups information 21 On target. 90% - 100% chance to score proficient. At risk. 50% - 90% likely to score proficient. Not likely to score proficient. Below 50% chance. Represents the % of students who were tested but used alternate assessments. High Performing District Low Performing District

Reporting & Use Enhancements (cont’d) Student Names Opportunity Deadlines: –July 31 (names were made available along with EVAAS release) –Sept 15 (EVAAS will be repopulated by early October) –January 15 (EVAAS will be repopulated by early February) 22

Value-Added in the OIP – Data View Example 24

Value-Added in the OIP – Questions Along with Data Views 25 Questions: –What are the overall patterns that you see? –Is there a consistent pattern across grades? –Which grade(s) appear to present the greatest concern? (Q1, Q2, Q3)? Global Question: –Do your findings represent a high, medium, or low level of concern for the district? –Incorporate the decision made from this value- added data into your final decision of Level of Concern for Proficiency by Building.
