Functional Family Therapy Goal Oriented Solutions for families in Bedford-Somerset

Functional Family Therapy (FFT) Functional Family Therapy (FFT) is a high-quality family intervention program for at-risk youth that builds on family strengths to address and manage a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues.

Target Population At-risk youth aged 10–18 Risky behaviors  Missed curfews  Drug and alcohol use  Anger issues  Truancy  Disruptive behaviors  Conflicts with family members or peers  Probation and legal issues

A Short-Term Program That Works with the Whole Family During the course of treatment, our specialists help families:  Improve communication  Find ways to support each other  Make positive changes in behavior  Strengthen parenting skills  Decrease negativity

Families Will Receive: Relapse Prevention Plan to guide families after treatment ends Nulton Diagnostic & Treatment Center expertise 12–16 one-to-two hour family sessions held in the home or our office Goal directed, step-by-step process for change

Positive Outcomes, Proven Results Extensive research shows that FFT is an effective way to:  Reduce criminal activity, violent behaviors and high-risk behaviors  Significantly reduce the likelihood that siblings will engage in high-risk behaviors  Reduce school drop-out rates and increase completion rates  Positively impact ways that families address conflict, communication, parenting and youth problem behavior Check out more at

How is FFT different from: Mobile Therapy (MT)?  FFT is structured, family-focused, evidence-based Family Based Mental Health (FBMH)?  FFT is goal directed, no crisis coverage, only one therapist (instead of a team). Family Focused Treatment?  Don’t confused us with the “Other” FFT.  Functional Family Therapy is evidence-based program. Family-Focus is an FBMH waiver.

What to Expect FFT Therapists communicate fully with the team, including juvenile probation officers. We can provide any updates that the court needs on client participation and treatment progress.
