Drug Legalization By: Jourdan Melendy, Tatum Lardinois, and Kristin Quintanilla

Drug Legalization How would legalizing drugs help people?

Drugs in Romeo and Juliet  In Romeo and Juliet drugs play a factor when Friar Lawerence gives Juliet a sleeping potion to make her family think she’s dead. Juliet does this so she doesn’t have to marry Paris.

Drugs in Romeo and Juliet  Drugs also take part in Romeo and Juliet when Romeo is banished from Veron and he hears that Juliet is dead. Romeo then buys drugs from the Apothecary because he is depressed.

Drugs in Romeo and Juliet  Drugs eventually lead to Romeo’s downfall. Romeo sneaks back to Verona so he can die next to Juliet. Romeo then takes the drugs which end up killing him.

Drug Legalization  We believe that legalizing drugs, such as marijuana, could help heal sick people and create a calmer environment.

Drugs for the Sick  Veterans Should Have Access to Medical Marijuana to Treat Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder  "I know a number of Vietnam and Iraq veterans who use marijuana. From my very unscientific survey it seems quite plausible that marijuana could be scientifically shown to bring a sense of calmness and pleasantness into a life burdened with harsh combat memories.“

Drugs for the Sick  Marijuana can do a lot of good for someone who is a veteran and is dealing with post-dramatic stress. It can help to calm them and it also helps them forget and feel better about the violence and destruction they have seen at war. However, too much marijuana can kill brain cells, so they should be able to use it as treatment, as prescribed by a doctor.

Drugs for the Sick  A veteran who has used marijuana off and on for decades sees its usage as a good thing, for it helps him balance out some of the difficulties and frustrations that he comes across in life.

Drugs for the Sick  As many as 58% of Americans now believe marijuana should be legal. They say it helps with cancer patients. It numbs the pain so that going through the chemo therapy and other treatments isn't as bad.

Drug Legalization in Romeo and Juliet  We think that if Lord and Lady Capulet and Montague could have taken some drugs, it may have helped reduce the hatred towards each other and each other’s families.

Drug Legalization in Romeo and Juliet  If Tybalt and Mercutio had been taking some drugs it could have prevented both of them from dying  “Romeo, the love I bear thee can afford, No better term than this: thou art a villain.” Tybalt says this when he wants to fight Romeo. If Tybalt had taken some drugs he may not have been so angry at Romeo.  Tybalt would not have tried to fight Romeo, and Mercutio would not have intervened. Then Tybalt would not have fought and killed Mercutio.

Drug Legalization in Romeo and Juliet  If Romeo had been on drugs, then he would not have been so angry that Tybalt killed Mercutio. Romeo then wouldn’t have killed Tybalt.  If Romeo hadn’t killed Tybalt, Romeo would not have been banished from Verona.

Drugs for American Teens  Medical drugs help American teens with Glaucoma.  Over time, scientists have discovered that smoking marijuana can reduce pressure in the eyes.  This could prevent people with glaucoma from becoming blind.

Drugs for American Teens  Legalizing drugs such as marijuana could help take the pain away from kids sick with cancer.  Scientists say that marijuana can stop the spread of cancer throughout the body.  This could alter the fatality of cancer.

Drugs for American Teens  Depression is becoming more and more common in America each year.  Marijuana could help American teens that are depressed.  Some people who smoke/consume marijuana occasionally have lower levels of depressive symptoms than those who have never tried marijuana.  Depressed marijuana users have less depressed moods and more positive attitudes.

Drug Legalization  Legalizing drugs, such as marijuana, could help heal people with diseases and create a calmer environment around us.
