© OCR 2016 Questions 1. Draw a set of axes going from -6 to 6 in the x and y directions on some graph paper. 2. Plot the following points: (3, 3), (3, 5), (4, 5), (4, 4), (5, 4), (5, 3) Join the points to make an ‘L’ shape. Label this shape A. 3. Rotate your shape 90° anticlockwise through the point (0, 0). Label it B. 4. Rotate shape A 90° clockwise through the point (3, 3). Label it C. 5. Rotate shape A 180° clockwise through the point (1, 1). Label it D. NB: You may use tracing paper to help with the rotations.

© OCR 2016 Challenge 1 On a grid, draw a shape and rotate it but keep the centre of rotation and the angle secret. Challenge your partner to find the angle and the centre of rotation.

© OCR 2016 Challenge 2 1.On a grid, draw an ‘L’ shape in the upper right quadrant. 2.Rotate the ‘L’ shape by 90 degrees anticlockwise about (0, 0). 3.Reflect the new shape in the line y = 0. 4.Rotate it again by 90 degrees about (0, 0) anticlockwise. 5.Now reflect again in the line y = 0. 6.What do you notice?

© OCR 2016 Challenge 3 1.On a grid, draw a shape in the upper right quadrant. 2.Write down its coordinates. 3.Rotate this shape with centre of rotation (0, 0) 90 degrees anticlockwise. 4.Write down the new coordinates. How do these compare with the original coordinates? 5.Try it with another shape. Will it always happen? 6.Use your original shape but this time rotate it 180 degrees about the origin (0, 0). How do these coordinates compare with the original coordinates?
