Bahkan By Michelle Lee Hajung Kim Jake Lee

Religion Mainly people believe in the Snow God, Begorte. He is sometimes presumed to be seen by the people, and is thought to have a physical appearance of Bigfoot. He is the creator of Bahkan, and the creation is celebrated on December 25th each year. People go to celebrate the day in their local temples. It is required for all Begortians (people who believe in Begorte). The offerings made on every pray day is Bahkan Moose with snow drinks. Begorte is our main god, but for foreigners or others who do not wish to believe in our religion, we give them freedom to do as they please. Begorte’s wife is the Godess of Water, Yomari, and their son Nuhad, is our first king.

Foods Bahkanians eat mostly roasted meat or warm soups daily in order to stay warm in the chilly climate. Bahkanian moose is one of the delicacies our nation is very proud of. It has tender meat and thick fat surrounding it, which makes it very soft and rich. Besides moose, popular foods also include minced mice meat and cowboy soup. The recipe is very simple. First, the moose is skinned and its antlers are cut off, then roasted over a big fire. When the moose is done, it is sprinkled with a spicy sauce made with secret recipe that has been passed on since the ancient Bahkan time. The sauce is traditionally called the Moose Sauce, because it is only made for moose.

Sports Sledding is one of the most popular sports in Bahkan, and very famous and well known. Bark from thick trees is used to make sleds, and international races are held each year on manmade mountains. Many people come to our country to participate and enjoy in the long winter months (seven winter months out of twelve). Also, because there is a lot of snowfall, there are also snow fights or snowman stacking competitions held every winter.

Language Bahkanians have our own language that has been made since the ancient times. They tend to talk fast, with high range of tones. They use unique language called Bahkanian. For numbers, we use Roman numerals. Ex>> I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII…X, C, M…

Education Each individual is required to have education until they are 19 years of age in order to have the privilege of obtaining a good job.

Science Our country is very advanced in science, mostly in astronomy. We have various researches going on, and big telescopes have been made by our scientists and placed in museums to find out more about the positions of stars. Many scientists and tourists like to travel far from another nation to see our museums. Our country is rapidly developing in other sciences like biology and types of stones, samples cut from caves inside the mountain regions. We are currently trying to find out which mushrooms are edible for making good moose stew.

Economy Though we had been ruled by another empire for a long time, we still had had our own benefits, and the decreasing empire along with our independence has allowed us to earn more wealth rapidly. Tourists who visit our country and the exports of our natural resources are the main sources of our money.

Natural Resources In our nation, we have rich amounts of resources thanks to the East River that flows through the middle of our country. Our land is mostly flat except for the small region of mountains in the south. Growing moose herds and pepper farms are popular among the Bahkanians. Bahkan’s climate is not that warm, so green houses are used for all farming areas. The pepper, being the main and only known ingredient for Moose Sauce, is very sold in large quanities to Moose Sauce factories, who sells the Moose Sauces to other countries. Moose survive well in the cold, so they are grown mostly for food, the fur sometimes used for clothing. Our small mountain region contains various precious stones, and these are the resources that tourists come to buy the most. There are rubies, diamonds, opals, and much more. The precious stones are sold the most among our natural resources, and we are very proud.
