KICK OFF TO A GREAT SCHOOL YEAR! WELCOME TO CURRICULUM NIGHT

Our Learning Environment Our class is a very busy place to learn. Our classroom environment is structured by a variety of hands- on games and learning centers. Students will spend time working independently, with a small group of children, or in the teacher’s group.

Classroom Expectations School begins at 8:15 a.m. Our primary means of communication will be remind.com text messages and the agenda folder provided by the school. The communication folder will be used for important notes, school notices, and flyers. Please check and initial the folder every day.

Homework Your child will have homework Monday – Thursday. All parts of the homework must be completed daily. Parental guidance is greatly appreciated.

Grades/Assessments Your child will receive grades based on their classwork and test grades. Students will receive a weekly math, reading, and spelling assessment. Grammar assessments will be given as we complete units and/or topics. Graded papers will be sent home every Wednesday. Please sign and return all documents

Grading Weights Math Test = 60% Classwork = 40% Language Arts Reading = 50% Grammar = 20% Spelling = 20% Classwork = 10% All grades for Science, Social Studies, Health, and Conduct will be averaged equally.

Rules and Consequences Students are expected to follow school and classroom rules at all times. Parents, I will be using to give daily conduct grades. Students who receive 19 or more infractions will not be able to attend the PBIS celebration for good behavior at the end of the nine weeks.

Conduct Grades Each time a number is given, 5 points is deducted from the conduct grade. 100 – Great Day! 95 – Received 1 infraction 90 – Received 2 infractions 85 – Received 3 infractions 80 - Received 4 infractions 75 – Received 5 infractions 70 – Received 6 infractions 65 – Received 7 infractions 60 – Received 8 infractions

Volunteers are always appreciated. We would love for you to come volunteer at Deer Chase. We will also need volunteers for class field trips. All volunteers must have completed the Volunteer Training.
