Research Question Does a increase in heat hasten the germination rate of a tomato seed?

Research Predictions We think that the experimental group, with more heat,(group b) is going to grow faster than the control group, with less heat(group a). We put our plants in a fish tank and had our lamp directly over group a which is our experimental group. We put our control group 6 inches away from the experimental group so it gets some light but not as much as the experimental group.

Experimental Design Control Variables- Seeds, Soil, Light source. Dependent variables- Germination Rate Independent- Temperature

Experimental Design Cont. Procedure- 1. Prepare 8 cups full of 2.5 cm of soil and 4 seeds each. 2. Divide the cups into two groups- group a and group b. 3. Group a will be the control group and will be kept at Celsius degrees and watered 10 ml of water every other day. 4. Group b will be kept at 29.4 Celsius degrees and will be watered 10 ml of water every other day. Place the cup by the window to get sun espouser. 5. Record and monitor daily.

Experimental Design Cont. materials- tomato seeds, cups, soil, lamp qualitative- based on the quantitative data we found out that the plants, smells nature like, looks healthy, stem is strong, soil is moist, most leaves are healthy, tall sprouts. quantitative- tallest plant 5.5cm, biggest leaf 1.5cm, cup size 7.5cm

Research Conclusion We found out that the control group grew faster, with less heat, than the experimental group with more heat. Also we found out that the more heat the seed gets the less it grows because the heat slows down the germination rate.
