Online Virtual Education GRADUATION REQUIREMENT

Online Virtual Education Graduation Requirement  Student/Parent requests the course on (complete instructions are available on the GJHS website)  Return a completed ‘Notification of Registration for Florida Virtual School Class’ form to the Guidance Office.  Your counselor will check to make sure you’ve requested the correct course and approve the course.  FLVS/PVS will place you with a teacher. FLVS may take a few weeks. PVS may take only a few days.  Continue to check your FLVS account for placement.

TESTS  PSAT  PSAT is administered November 2, 2016 NO FEE  PSAT must be retaken in the Fall of the Junior Year to be considered for the National Merit Scholars Program ( cost $16.00 )  PSAT results may be used as SAT prep with    FSA is administered in Spring of Sophomore Year  EOCs for Sophomore courses administered in Spring  Mid Terms at end of 1 st semester  Final Exams at end of 2 nd semester

Dual Enrollment  The dual enrollment program allows academically talented high school students to take college classes while still in high school.  Some of the benefits of program participation are broadened educational opportunities, increased depth of study, and accelerated attainment of post-secondary educational goals — at zero cost.  Before you begin, read the Dual Enrollment Agreement and the addendum appropriate to your high school experience, found at  Steps 1 – 4 are completed once. Steps 5 – 7 are completed prior to every semester.

7 Steps to Dual Enrollment  Step 1 — Meet eligibility requirements  Dual Enrollment – (taking up to 11 credits per term as a part-time student while in grades 6-12) Earned 6 high school credits Unweighted high school GPA of 3.0 Approval from a high school counselor Placement test at college-level ( PERT –SAT- ACT )  Early Admission – (taking credits per semester as a full-time college student) Option for Senior Year.

 Step 2 —  Complete the Polk State College online admission application A valid personal address Your own Social Security number (If you don’t have one, you can still apply but do not use your parent’s Social Security number.)  When you complete the application, print your admission letter or record your PSC IS #. A PSC ID # is required to obtain a PERT testing ticket.

 Step 3 —Submit official scores from an approved placement test PERT, ACT, or SAT scores are acceptable. ACT & SAT Official scores must be sent directly to Polk State College. A copy of PERT scores must be provide to your GJHS counselor. Your scores cannot be older than two years from the first day of the semester you plan to attend.

 Step 4 – Complete the College’s student orientation  Complete the online orientation at this must be competed prior to registration.  Step 5 — Complete course selection, approval, and registration Use the DELTA portal and meet with a high school counselor each semester.  Select courses through DELTA (  Student logs in using GJHS student portal login & password  Update contact information, under course requests, add new college, Polk State College, select term, and agree to the terms and conditions  Parent logs in using GJHS Parent Portal login & password and agrees to the terms and conditions  Register for courses through PSC personnel at PSC or the PSC Registration event at GJHS

 Step 6 — Submit course schedule to high school counselor If registering at PSC, bring copy of schedule to GJHS counselor  Step 7 — Acquire textbooks If taking courses at PSC, bring copy of schedule to Mrs. Smither in the GJHS Media Center
