* 1.Understand why leadership transitions are important. * 2. Learn how to start, continue and end the transitioning process. * 3. Be aware of the resources available to you during transition. * 4. Start moving forward.

* Avoid confusion during turnover * Clearly define leadership roles and responsibilities * Gives organization a sense of direction * Assure new officers of their duties

* Club Mission Statement * Creates recurring events * Club builds a reputation on campus * Community impact

* Satisfaction for departing officers * Successful events and programming * Meeting organization goals and expectations

* Continue club progress into the next year * Set concrete goals for new officers * Keep everyone on the same page (communication)

* Extended Meeting * Schedule ASAP in Fall Semester. * Recommended 1 hour meeting at least. * Current Officers and advisor (optional) * What to cover * Review mission of club and goals for the year. * Make clear the structure of the club and the expectations of each officers. * Events * Budgeting * Make a calendar * Highlight events, end-of-programming dates, mid-year report, year- end report, elections/interviews, transition period etc.

* Elections/Interviews * Preferably at the beginning of the Spring semester * Transition Period * Take at least one month to introduce incoming officers to their positions and future responsibilities * Take a hands-on approach * Shadowing * Have current officers work with their successors * i.e. planning events, running meetings, financial and travel documents, budget request, year-end report, OrgSync, etc. * Gets incoming-officers familiar with their duties and gives a sense of what is expected of them

* End-of-the-Year Extended Meeting * Outgoing and incoming officers and advisor (optional) * Evaluate the year’s events * Share officer information (roles and expectations, club mission, important files) * Update OrgSync * Incoming officers exchange contact info * Begin discussion of goals for next year: expectations, ideas, events, budget concerns, etc.
