“(F)or every animal of the forest is mine and the cattle on a thousand hills. 11 I know every bird in the mountains, and the insects in the fields are mine. 12 If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it.” Psalm 50:10-12

“ The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ declares the L ORD Almighty.” Haggai 2:8 “The earth is the L ORD ’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;” Psalm 24:1

“Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.” 1 Corinthians 4:2

To find out where your income compares with the rest of the world...

“... No one should appear before the L ORD empty- handed: Each of you must bring a gift in proportion to the way the L ORD your God has blessed you.” Deuteronomy 16:16-17

Though they have been going through much trouble and hard times, they have mixed their wonderful joy with their deep poverty, and the result has been an overflow of giving to others.

They gave not only what they could afford but far more; and I can testify that they did it because they wanted to and not because of nagging on my part. They begged us to take the money so they could share in the joy of helping the Christians in Jerusalem. 2 Corinthians 8:2-4. TLB

Our trust is in God and not in our wealth or ability to earn wealth “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.” 1 Timothy 6:17

“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” 1 Timothy 6:10

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?

And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own? “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” Luke 16:10-13

Exodus 22:29 (God says) “You must be prompt in bringing me the tithe”

Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower.

For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business. James 4:9-11

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

Romans 12:6-8 “ We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us... if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously;”

“Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.” Ephesians 4:28

“Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account.” Philippians 4:17

“Giving is a giant lever positioned in a key place in this world, allowing us to move mountains in the next world. Because we give, eternity will be different – for others and for us” - Randy Alcorn
