DEVELOPMENTS WITHIN THE PROJECT The Research Unit was established – November 2014 The following official documents were developed and adopted by YSAFA for the implementation of the RU  YSAFA RU structure, aims and functions  RU strategic plan, research dimensions and prospective programs  RU Regulatory framework  Information on the Project and RU unit at YSAFA web-page  RU activity evaluation tools  RU activity plan and procedures on improvement

DEVELOPMENTS WITHIN THE PROJECT AND FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE RU AT YSAFA  Fact-finding and SWOT analyses  Recommendation package for PhD program and YSAFA research education internationalization  Package of documents on recommendations for the preparation of PhD thesis paper (in the fields of Fine Art, Design and Applied arts)  Draft Guide on the preparation of PhD thesis paper  Strategic plan for PhD program development and implementation  Lessons learnt from the study visit

Selected PhD program: ART HISTORY, FINE ARTS, DESIGN AND APPLIED ARTS With this purpose the following activities are in process:  Adoption of PhD quality standards developed by ANQA at YSAFA  PhD Program Description/Definition  Development of internal award criteria  Definition of PhD program LOs  Development of the new curricula based on the LOs  Development of Course descriptions  Definition of standards for the supervisors Upcoming activities  Revision of a questionnaire on the enrollment of PhD program based on the new principles  Development of the guide for the PhD student  Development of the trilateral agreement (HEI-Supervisor-PhD Student)  Self-evaluation of the revised PhD program against ANQA criteria for the External evaluation CURRENT AND UPCOMING ACTIVITIES

DISSEMINATION ACTIVITIES In-house trainings among YSAFA faculty staff, PhD students and MA students (December 2015) Questionnaire on PhD education efficiency (developed with YSAFA QA center and to be conducted among YSAFA faculty, PhD students, supervisor) DISSEMINATION at YSAFA web-site:

The difficulty of adoption of new requirements/principles for the PhD education – shortage of resources Discrepancies between the structure and the new principles on the PhD new program and thesis defense Difficulties in adoption of the PhD program requirements/standards in the fields of Fine arts, Design and Applied Arts – support from RA SCC and MoES is highly appreciated Lack of financial allocation for research at YSAFA Shortage of resources at YSAFA for the implementation of PhD program

Establishment of the new RU unit at YSAFA Staff trainings and awareness raising, as well as international experience exchange in the field of PhD education Needs analyses of the PhD education and development of the documents basis for the running of the unit PhD program revision based on the new principles and QA standards Experience exchange and communication at national level
