 You have 10 minutes to complete the reading check over the homework reading.  You may use your book.  Support answers with textual evidence.

 How did Yang utilize three varied plots with three main characters to convey a larger message?  Let’s brainstorm!  Then, let’s look at how you might address this question fully but looking at a teacher example.  What do you notice the response has done?  Your response should:  Make a statement about Yang’s larger message  Reference at least 1 textual detail per plot (3 total)  Articulate the connection between the details selected and the larger message expressed  Make use of unit vocabulary or sophisticated word choice to articulate the message and connections

Common Issues:  A need for captions  Making characters distinct from one another  Clarity – what details should you include for the struggle to be clear to readers? For Thursday:  Use your outline sheet to compose a two paragraph explanation of your choices as the author of your graphic novel.  Type and print the two paragraphs  Bring a revised drawing of your graphic novel on Thursday.  It does not need to be in color yet, as you will have work time and may want to make changes.

 Create a notecard with the evidence you will use in your unit test essay.  Practice outlining the essay and review packets for test tomorrow  Revised project with two paragraphs due Thursday
