What is the Congressional App Challenge? An app competition for students in high school and below, hosted by Members of Congress An opportunity for students to learn how to code, to get recognition for their efforts, and to win prizes CongressionalAppChallenge.us

Creating Your Submission Go to the drop-down menu under “Compete 2016” to find the Submission form. Your submission will require: 4. Demonstration Video. ◦Create a 1-3 minute video showcasing what your app does and how it works. ◦Upload your video onto a public site like Youtube or Vimeo. ◦You must set the video to public so that the judges can watch them. ◦(check website for past examples.) 1. Submission ID Number. 2. App Information. ◦App Title ◦Coding Language 3. Question Answers. ◦Short Description: What is your app trying to accomplish and why? ◦What's a difficulty you faced in programming your app and how did you overcome it? ◦What improvements would make if you were going to create a version 2.0 of your app? Exit Questionnaire ◦At the end of the Submission Form, you will be given a link to the Exit Questionnaire. ◦The Exit Questionnaire is anonymous and very brief. ◦It’s the final requirement of your submission. ◦Teams: All teammates must complete this anonymous exit questionnaire. The Rules Eligibility. Students may compete in either: ◦The district in which they reside, OR ◦The district in which they attend school. Teams. Students may compete as individuals or teams of up to four (4). ◦Teammates only need to up sign up ONCE, and should sign up together. ◦Teams with 5 or more students are not eligible. ◦If competing as a team: ◦at least two teammates must be eligible to compete within the district in which they are competing CongressionalAppChallenge.us

Rules Cont. App Requirements. Students can create any kind of app. You just need to demonstrate you’ve learned some coding skills. ◦Type: Your app can be a game (like PokemonGo) or a functional app (like a study tool). ◦Coding Language. Your app can be created in whatever coding language or on whatever platform you like. ◦Functionality. Your app does not need to be completely finished or published ◦You just need to demonstrate that you have learned how to code to some extent. ◦As long as students code the first couple pages, you can wireframe the rest of the concept. ◦Prior Projects. Students may submit apps they created prior to the Challenge, as long as: ◦The app meet the standards of eligibility, and ◦It was created within one year of the submission deadline (e.g. any time after Nov. 2, 2015) CongressionalAppChallenge.us
