1. Axis of Power- Germany, Italy, and Japan during the World War II. 2. Cash and Carry- a provision that allowed warring nations to buy U.S. arms as long as they paid cash and transported them in their own ships. World War II

3. Lend and Lease- in order to further help the British, the US agreed to “lend” old US warships to England in exchange for “leases” on ports located throughout the Caribbean. World War II

4. Rationing- establishing fixed allotments of goods deemed essential for the military; households received ration books with coupons to be used for buying such scarce goods as meat, shoes, sugar, coffee, and gasoline. 5. Tuskegee Airmen- pilots of the all-black 99th Pursuit Squadron. World War II

6. Navajo Code Talkers- Navajo Native American that helped during World War II by using their language to deliver messages across the radios. 7. Battle of Midway- Turning point in the Pacific war, the Americans stop the Japanese from moving to Midway Island by breaking the Japanese code. World War II

8. Island Hopping- the American forces leapfrogging across the Pacific toward Japan; Island by island they won territory back from the Japanese. 9. Atomic Bomb- a powerful weapon that had been developed by scientist during World War II. World War II
