Introduction & Background Data Source: Food Environment Atlas from data.gov Provides data about accessibility and availability of food in different counties Problem: Difficult to quickly search for data Contains 12 sheets of large data sets Contains 72K rows Has data for all counties of all the states Data column headings need to be translated

Data Mart Design Built in MySQL Uses Star Schema One Fact Table containing County Name and ID Six dimension tables for each of the sheets of data Due to time constraints: Loaded California data only: 115 rows Limited original 12 sheets of data to 6 sheets
