What is the campus climate survey? ●The survey will measure how satisfied respondents are with the IC community. ○What are their: personal experiences, perceptions, and opinions of institutional efforts. ●It explores satisfaction on a wide range of topics including what it is like to study, live, and work here. ○Sample topics: How safe do you feel on campus? How could you be better supported in your job? Do you feel valued? How could the college support a more positive community? ●It measures topics BEYOND diversity and inclusion ○Sample topics: Should IC offer better facilities? more student support? caregiver support for employees? improved tenure/promotion process?

What is the campus climate survey? ●It is an ANONYMOUS online survey for all current faculty, staff, and students. ●It is being conducted by the external consulting firm Rankin & Associates. ●The Climate Study Working Group, made up of students, faculty, and staff, is assisting the consulting firm with survey design and implementation.Climate Study Working Group ●We are seeking 100% participation from the IC community. ●Rankin & Associates will analyze the survey results and report them to the campus community.

Why? ●We typically spend more time immersed in our campus community then we do anywhere else. That experience should be the best it can be. ●The results of the survey will help identify priorities for the next president as we continue to develop and advance as an institution.

Why is it important for students?

Why is it important for faculty and staff? The personal and professional development of employees are impacted by campus climate. 1 Faculty members who judge their campus climate more positively are more likely to feel personally supported and perceive their work unit as more supportive. 2 Research underscores the relationships between (1) workplace discrimination and negative job and career attitudes and (2) workplace encounters with prejudice and lower health and well-being.. 3

When? The survey will be open September 27th - October 28th The survey link will be ed to all students, faculty, and staff. It will also be available at There will be posters, signage, and other reminders to take the survey.

Timeline Spring 2016 Rankin & Associates conducted focus groups on campus. Spring/Summer 2016 The survey was developed by Rankin & Associates with assistance from the Climate Survey Working Group (CSWG). Fall 2016 The survey will be open September 27- October 28. Winter 2016/2017 Rankin & Associates will analyze the results, compare IC to national benchmarks, and prepare a presentation. Spring 2017 Rankin & Associates will report results of the survey to the campus community.

Prizes There are over 30 prizes. Winners will be selected at random.
