Marilyn Monroe Biography By Gemma and Alex

A star is born. Norma Jean Mortenson (soon after changed to Baker), was born on the 1 st June, 1926 in Los Angeles County Hospital. Her mother was a wardrobe mistress; years later she said her mother was a film editor.

When Marilyn was growing up, she spent most of her time in foster care or in an orphanage. In 1937, a family friend and her husband, Grace and Doc Goddard, took care of Marilyn for a few years. Growing up

Marilyn wandered in and out of the studios. When she was a kid, it was a closed shop. Marilyn's mother, Gladys Pearl Baker Mortensen, was born on May 27, 1902, in Porfirio Díaz, Mexico. Marilyn’s Mother

First Marriage Marilyn got married to her boyfriend Jimmy Dougherty on June 19th, 1942 at the age of 16. Marilyn was later sent to the South Pacific. Marilyn went to work in a munitions factory in Burbank.

Early Career Marilyn Monroe has starred in many films, like: Niagara, Niagara, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, River of No Return, River of No Return, The Seven Year Itch, The Seven Year Itch, Some Like It Hot, Some Like It Hot, The Misfits. The Misfits. The Shocking Miss. Pilgrim, The Shocking Miss. Pilgrim, We’re not Married! We’re not Married! A ticket to Tomahawk. A ticket to Tomahawk.

Family Marilyn never knew her father, and once thought that Clark Gable was her father, a story repeated often enough for versions to gain some publicity. However, there is no evidence that Gable ever met or knew Marilyn’s mother, Gladys, who was mentally ill was eventually placed in a mental institution.

As an adult, one of Marilyn’s earliest memories was of her mother trying to suffocate her in her crib with a pillow. Marilyn had one half sister who she was not close to and they only met half a dozen times. Marilyn also had a half brother which died before she met him.

Second Marriage On 14th January 1954, Marilyn married baseball legend Joe DiMaggio, although the marriage lasted only nine months. Much of the issue in the marriage was DiMaggio's concern with his wife's increasingly attractive image.

Monroe accused DiMaggio of being mentally abusive. Despite this, the pair remained friends after their divorce. Joe reportedly was infuriated by the crowd's positive response during the famous scene in The Seven Year Itch (1955)

Acting Career Marilyn started out as an actress doing small roles. She did not catch the attention of the world until 1953 movie Niagara. Determined to become a serious actress, Marilyn moved to New York to study acting. Her success continued to grow, and she won a Golden Globe award for her role in Some like it hot.

The Death of Marilyn Monroe Marilyn Monroe was found dead in the bedroom of her Brentwood home in Los Angeles on the 5th of August Her death was ruled to be "acute barbiturate poisoning" by Dr. Thomas Noguchi.
