Chapters News – Mar/Apr Information for chapters –How to Access Volunteer Content on IEEE.ORG –Society Chapters Listing Report –Inactive Chapters –Dissolved Chapters –vTools.Voting: Online Voting Tool Availability Reminder –vTools News: New Tools, New User Community –Volunteer Training Modules

Summary 1. Active Chapters are involved with industry, students and technology 2. Marginal Chapters have stale membership and leaders - they need objectives and visits from AESS Board members and Distinguished Lecturers 3. Inactive Chapters have lost their way due to –economic conditions, –have less than a critical mass (< 50 members since only 20% of AESS Chapter membership attend meetings), –technology shifts, etc. –these Chapters need a rejuvenation program with the support of the local IEEE Section and Region.

Chapter Action Items IEEE AESS Membership Recruitment –Support new AESS Chapters –Encourage students chapters –Coordinate with new members through AESS co-sponsorship of meetings IEEE AESS Membership Sustainment –Meetings, speakers, AESS support Motion: –Approve $10K to cover L-31 reimbursements for chapter meetings in 2011
